In a landmark achievement for youth adventure training in the country, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) successfully concluded its first-ever All India NCC Basic Paramotor Course at the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), Guwahati.

Conducted over a period of 15 days from 21 May to 04 June 2026, the course trained 50 Senior Division cadets drawn from 10 States and Union Territories across India. The intensive training programme covered ground handling, powered flight operations and aerial navigation, culminating in each cadet successfully completing a minimum of five solo flights and qualifying as a Basic Paramotor Pilot.

The training was conducted by the NIMAS Paramotor Node, Guwahati, the only civilian institution in the country, apart from the Armed Forces, authorised to conduct certified paramotor training. The course was delivered under the supervision of experienced instructors following a DGCA-compliant training syllabus, with stringent safety protocols maintained throughout.

The All India course followed the successful conduct of the first NCC North Eastern Region Directorate Basic Paramotor Course held from 04 to 19 May 2026, during which 50 cadets from the Northeast were trained. With the completion of both courses, NCC has qualified a total of 100 Senior Division cadets as Basic Paramotor Pilots within a span of one month, setting a new benchmark in aero-adventure training and youth skill development.
Showcasing the spirit of “Unity and Discipline” beyond conventional boundaries, cadets representing diverse regions of the country, from Ladakh to Assam, demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, courage and professionalism during the training. All participants were equipped with complete flying gear provided by NCC and will be awarded Basic Paramotor Qualification Certificates by NIMAS.

Building on the success of the initiative, NCC has announced the conduct of a Basic Paramotor Course for 60 Senior Wing Girl Cadets between October and November 2026. The programme will henceforth be incorporated into the annual NCC training calendar, institutionalising aero-adventure activities as an important component of cadet development.

The initiative reflects NCC’s continued commitment towards fostering leadership, adventure, self-confidence and national pride among the youth, while expanding opportunities for specialised skill-based training aligned with the aspirations of a modern and self-reliant India.
