Reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment, nation-building and social outreach, Assam Rifles successfully facilitated an educational and cultural exposure tour for 13 students and three teachers from Manipur to participate in the prestigious SPIC MACAY International Convention held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur recently.

The initiative, aimed at broadening the horizons of young minds and strengthening national integration, commenced with a ceremonial flag-off at Lok Bhavan, Imphal East, on 23 May. The event was graced by the  Governor of Manipur, who commended Assam Rifles for providing the state’s youth with an opportunity to engage with one of the country’s premier educational institutions and experience India’s rich cultural diversity firsthand.

The delegation included students and teachers from Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), Keithelmanbi, ARPS Mantripukhri and Manipur University. During the week-long convention, participants attended yoga sessions, cultural workshops and interactive programmes with eminent practitioners of Indian classical music, dance and traditional arts. The exposure not only enhanced their confidence and leadership qualities but also deepened their appreciation of the nation’s shared cultural heritage.

Following their return to Manipur, Assam Rifles organised a flagging-in ceremony at Mantripukhri Garrison, attended by senior officers and troops. The students shared their experiences of overcoming personal inhibitions, learning new skills and building meaningful connections with peers from across the country. Their testimonies highlighted the transformative impact of the initiative in nurturing confidence, discipline and a broader national outlook.

Through such outreach programmes, Assam Rifles continues to play a vital role beyond its operational responsibilities, fostering educational opportunities, cultural awareness and national unity among the youth of the North East. The successful completion of the tour stands as another testament to the force’s enduring commitment to empowering communities and strengthening the bonds that unite the nation.
