INS Chilka marked a significant milestone in the training cycle of India’s maritime forces as 3,011 trainees of Batch 01/26 successfully passed out on June 12 after completing 16 weeks of intensive ab-initio naval training.
The Passing Out Parade (POP) celebrated the transformation of recruits into disciplined, motivated and professionally trained personnel prepared to undertake operational responsibilities in the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.
The graduating batch comprised 2,746 Agniveers of the Indian Navy, including 116 women Agniveers, alongside 265 Naviks of the Indian Coast Guard. Their successful completion of training reflects the growing strength and diversity of India’s maritime forces.
The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, who attended as the Chief Guest. Commodore B Deepak Aneel, Station Commander, INS Chilka, served as the Conducting Officer. The event witnessed the presence of senior serving officers, veterans, distinguished guests and family members, adding to the pride and significance of the occasion.
Addressing the newly trained sailors and Coast Guard personnel, Vice Admiral Vatsayan congratulated them on successfully completing the demanding training programme. He urged them to uphold the Indian Navy’s core values of Duty, Honour and Courage while serving the nation with unwavering commitment, integrity and professionalism.
Recognising excellence in training, the Chief Guest presented medals, trophies and awards to outstanding trainees. Kornana Dhanalakshmi and Rudhikesh Maruti Pawar were awarded the Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy and Gold Medal for Best Trainee in the SSR and MR categories respectively. Prapti Ramesh Chavhan received the Rolling Trophy for Best Woman Trainee in the Overall Order of Merit, while Devasish was adjudged the Best Navik (GD) of the batch.
Ahead of the Passing Out Parade, INS Chilka organised a Valedictory Function featuring the presentation of the End-of-Term Report and a cultural programme showcasing the talents and camaraderie of the trainees. Kharavela Division emerged as the Overall Champion of the batch, while Angre Division secured the Runners-Up Trophy.
The occasion also marked the release of Ankur (01/26), the bilingual trainees’ magazine of INS Chilka. The publication chronicles the experiences, achievements and transformational journey of the trainees throughout their 16-week training period.
The successful passing out of Batch 01/26 reinforces INS Chilka’s pivotal role as the premier basic training establishment of the Indian Navy, shaping the next generation of sailors and maritime warriors who will contribute to safeguarding India’s maritime interests and national security.
