The Indian Navy will host the second edition of its biannual Commanders’ Conference for 2026 from 29 September to 1 October 2026 at Nausena Bhawan, New Delhi.
The three-day conference will serve as the Navy’s apex-level forum, bringing together senior naval leadership, including operational and area commanders, to undertake a comprehensive review of operational preparedness at the military-strategic level. The forum will also facilitate discussions with senior government officials through an institutionalised mechanism.
A key focus of the conference will be the Indian Navy’s role in safeguarding the country’s maritime interests, particularly energy security amid the ongoing conflicts in West Asia. The Navy’s ongoing Operation Urja Suraksha and its expanding role as a preferred security partner in the Indian Ocean Region and beyond will also feature prominently.
On the opening day, the Raksha Mantri will address the naval leadership and outline his vision and guidance on national maritime priorities and expectations from the Indian Navy. The Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of the Army Staff will also interact with naval commanders, strengthening jointness and integration among the three Services.
During the subsequent sessions, the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Commanders-in-Chief will review key areas including operations, logistics, materiel, human resources and training. The conference will also examine the induction and application of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analysis, autonomous and uncrewed systems, and cyber capabilities, with emphasis on accelerating technology absorption and developing advanced warfighting concepts.
The Navy’s senior leadership will further assess overall operational preparedness, force levels and combat readiness, guided by the three foundational pillars of JAI — Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation. These priorities are aligned with the Government of India’s broader vision of Aatmanirbharta and Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Indian Navy continues to maintain a high operational tempo while working towards its objective of remaining a Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive and Future-Ready Force in service of the nation.
