Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy Vice Admiral Damian Fernando on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi, with both sides reviewing ongoing activities and projects under the Bilateral Defence Co-operation Plan.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed key areas of bilateral defence engagement and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting comes as part of Vice Admiral Damian Fernando’s three-day official visit to India, aimed at further deepening the longstanding defence and maritime partnership between India and Sri Lanka.
The discussions focused on continued cooperation under the existing bilateral framework, with both sides emphasising the importance of enhancing defence ties and expanding collaboration in mutually beneficial areas.
The visit underscores the close defence relationship between the two neighbouring countries and their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the maritime domain.
