Sainik School Nagrota celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, with cadets and staff reaffirming their commitment to the nation, its unity and constitutional values.
The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Capt (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal, Sainik School Nagrota, followed by the National Anthem. Appreciation Certificates were also presented to selected staff members in recognition of their meritorious service and dedicated contribution to the school.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal paid tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters and urged cadets and staff to uphold the values of sincerity, discipline, dedication and responsibility in their service to the nation.
The celebrations gained added significance with the school securing top honours at the Union Territory-level Independence Day ceremony held at MA Stadium, Jammu. The Sainik School Nagrota Drill Contingent was adjudged the Best Drill Contingent, earning the institution a prestigious distinction on the occasion.
Adding to the school’s achievements, the Sainik School Nagrota Band received the Excellence Award for its performance. The band was recognised for its musical precision, synchronisation, discipline and ceremonial finesse.
The twin honours — Best Drill Contingent and Excellence Award for the School Band — brought pride to Sainik School Nagrota and reflected the high standards of discipline, teamwork and excellence fostered among its cadets.
Congratulating the contingents, Capt (IN) Shibu Devasia lauded the cadets for their hard work, perseverance and disciplined preparation. He also appreciated the Band Master and NCC PI Staff for their dedicated training, guidance and meticulous preparation, which played a key role in the contingents’ outstanding performances.
The achievements at the UT-level ceremony added a special dimension to the Independence Day celebrations at Sainik School Nagrota, highlighting the importance of discipline, teamwork and sustained effort in achieving excellence.
The celebrations concluded with the cadets and staff reaffirming their pledge to uphold the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation and contribute towards building a stronger and progressive India.
