The Indian Army has intensified flood relief operations in Gujarat’s Surat district after incessant rainfall triggered severe flooding in Kadodara village, deploying specialised relief columns to assist affected residents in coordination with the civil administration.
Teams from the Army’s Southern Command have been engaged in rescue and relief efforts since the flooding inundated low-lying areas, helping evacuate stranded residents and providing humanitarian assistance to those affected.
According to the Army, 34 civilians have been rescued so far, while several affected families have been shifted to safer locations. Relief teams have also distributed essential supplies, including food and other necessities, to more than 400 people.
Equipped with boats and life-saving equipment, the Army personnel continue to conduct rescue operations and remain on standby to respond to any further emergencies as the flood situation evolves.
The coordinated operation is being carried out in close cooperation with the local civil administration to ensure timely evacuation, relief distribution and assistance to flood-affected communities.
The ongoing mission underscores the Indian Army’s role in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), with troops responding swiftly to support civil authorities during natural disasters. Guided by its ethos of ‘Service Before Self’, the Army continues to assist affected residents while remaining prepared for additional contingencies should the situation worsen.
