The Central Government has introduced a dedicated recruitment category for retired Agniveers in the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman posts in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles.
Under the new provisions, retired Agniveers will receive 50% reservation in vacancies. They will also be eligible for three years of age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit, while candidates from the first batch of Ex-Agniveers will receive an extended five-year age relaxation.
In addition, Ex-Agniveers will be exempted from the Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and the written examination during the recruitment process.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also established a dedicated Ex-Agniveer Wing to coordinate and facilitate the post-service progression of retired Agniveers.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai shared the information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, noting that the first batch of Agniveers has not yet completed its term of engagement.
