The Indian Navy’s long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft, the Boeing P-8I Neptune, has arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, to participate in the multinational maritime exercise Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) 2026.
RIMPAC 2026, scheduled from 1 to 31 July 2026, is recognized as the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise. It brings together naval forces from multiple partner nations to enhance interoperability, strengthen maritime security cooperation, and improve collective response capabilities across a wide range of maritime operations.
The deployment of the P-8I aircraft underscores the operational reach and expeditionary capability of the Indian Navy. The platform is expected to contribute to maritime domain awareness missions, anti-submarine warfare training, and coordinated operations alongside participating navies.
Officials have stated that India’s participation in RIMPAC 2026 reflects its continued commitment to a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific maritime order. The engagement also aims to deepen professional military cooperation, enhance interoperability, and strengthen shared understanding of complex maritime security challenges.
The presence of Indian naval aviation assets in Hawaii further reinforces India’s growing role in multinational maritime engagements and its emphasis on collaborative security frameworks across the Indo-Pacific region.
