As part of the nationwide build-up to International Yoga Day 2026, the Indian Army’s Spearhead Division under Spear Corps conducted a special yoga session for troops deployed in forward areas at Pasang Sonam Lake in Arunachal Pradesh.
Held at an altitude of nearly 9,000 feet, the event brought together soldiers stationed in the region for a collective session focused on physical fitness, mental well-being and operational resilience. Set against the backdrop of the pristine high-altitude lake, troops participated in a series of yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation practices designed to enhance endurance, concentration and overall wellness.
The initiative forms part of the Army’s month-long observance leading up to International Yoga Day and underscores the growing emphasis on holistic health among personnel serving in challenging operational environments. Military officials highlighted the role of yoga in improving flexibility, stress management and mental resilience—qualities essential for soldiers operating in remote and demanding frontier regions.
Beyond its physical benefits, the session also fostered camaraderie and collective motivation among troops while reinforcing the importance of discipline, mindfulness and emotional balance in military life.
The event reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to promoting comprehensive fitness and well-being as key components of combat readiness. It also demonstrated the participation of troops deployed along the nation’s frontiers in national initiatives aimed at encouraging healthy lifestyles and strengthening the connection between operational excellence and personal wellness.
Conducted amid the tranquil surroundings of Pasang Sonam Lake, the programme highlighted the unique integration of traditional Indian practices with modern military preparedness, reinforcing the Army’s focus on maintaining both physical capability and mental fortitude in high-altitude operational areas.
