The Indian Air Force’s renowned Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) celebrated its 30th anniversary at Air Force Station Bidar recently, marking three decades of breathtaking precision flying, professionalism and inspiring aerial displays.
The commemorative event was attended by Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, Air Marshal S Shrinivas. Adding special significance to the occasion, both senior officers flew alongside the team during the anniversary aerial display.
A moving highlight of the celebrations was the “Hollow Diamond” formation flown in honour of the brave team members who lost their lives in the line of duty over the years. The tribute symbolised the courage, camaraderie and indomitable spirit that continue to define the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team.
Established in 1996 at Bidar, SKAT has performed more than 800 air displays across India and overseas, captivating millions with its precision aerobatics and signature red-and-white Hawk Mk-132 aircraft. Over the past three decades, the team has emerged as a symbol of the Indian Air Force’s pride, excellence and operational skill.
Continuing to inspire future generations, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team proudly lives by its motto — “Sadaiva Sarvottam” (Always the Best).
